In April ARTRAGEOUS! received the Michigan Association of School Boards Excellence in Education Award. The three-day Hillsdale High School Fine Arts Festival was initiated in 2007 with help from a grant from the Hillsdale County Community Foundation Y.O.U.T.H., written by the students. Each year over half the students in the high school are involved in one or more components of ARTRAGEOUS! The festival has grown to include choir, band, orchestra, jazz, solo and ensemble performances as well as the literary, visual, computer, and culinary arts. The centerpiece of the weekend is a musical, which draws on the talents of many students and the other fine arts to bring it to fruition.
