A little bit about me:
I grew up in Detroit, but after 30+ years call Hillsdale home. I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, Language Arts and History from Siena Heights and a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from Western Michigan University. I also have an additional endorsement in secondary English from Siena Heights. When I'm not at school I enjoy working out, doing yoga, and cooking.
I have been married to my husband for 34 years. For many of those years, Dan also worked at Hillsdale Community Schools, first as a teacher/coach at the high school, then the counselor at Davis Middle School. Dan retired in 2016 from Hillsdale Community Schools and is currently the Business Service Coordinator for Michigan Works. While he likes the pace of this job, he does miss the interaction with students.
I have two sons (Matt and Nate) who both graduated from Hillsdale High School. Matt was a Lieutenant in the Navy, and is now is an ironworker in Seattle, WA. Matt is currently working on the 1.8Billion addition to the Seattle Convention Center. Nate was a Lieutenant in the Navy, as well, assigned to the USS Kentucky - a Nuclear Submarine. Nate took a gap year to become a Master Carpenter after he finished his tour with the Navy, but sadly, because of COVID-19, this program is on a pause. Nate has reentered back into the world of work and is currently the Program Manager of Facilities, Operations, and Emergency Maintenance for all Whole Food Stores in Oregon, Washington State, and Vancouver, British Columbia. The education that the boys received at Hillsdale Community Schools has allowed them to go on and do great things. Even though both boys now live in the Seattle area, they use the skills they acquired while students at Hillsdale Community Schools daily.
