Hillsdale Community schools to Provide Free Meals to Children 18 and Younger at Hillsdale High School 30 S. Norwood Ave. Students in Hillsdale Community Schools will have regular access to meals at no cost during remote learning.

What: As schools in Hillsdale and across the country move to virtual learning at home due to COVID-19 concerns, students in Hillsdale will be able to continue to eat for free every day. Hillsdale Community Schools are working in partnership with its foodservice partner Chartwells K12, is providing free Breakfast and Lunch] to anyone 18 years old or younger.

From 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday at Hillsdale High School, students and families can pick-up meals.  Meals should be reserved in advance each week by calling 417-689-1406 by 6:00 p.m. Sunday for meal pickup the following Tuesday.

Even though the 2020/2021 school year is like none other, the food service staff at Hillsdale Community schools are still serving food kids love to eat and offering great-tasting menu options. Some of the meals that will be served, include:

  • Bosco Cheese Filled Breadsticks
  • Chicken Sandwich
  • Nachos

Health and Safety Remains a Priority

While the logistics and location for how meals will be served is different, students, staff and parents can have peace of mind knowing that Chartwells K12’s foodservice plans for Hillsdale community Schools are rooted in the most stringent health and safety practices aligned with federal and state regulations, along with local health department recommendations. All Chartwells K12 associates will participate in COVID-19 specific training developed in consultation with the Cleveland Clinic, undergo health screenings before each workday and follow strict guidelines for glove, mask and physical distancing protocols. Enhanced cleaning and sanitation measures help assure the safest environments possible.

Why: Millions of kids rely on school lunches for regular meals. No Kid Hungry reports that 6 out of 7 hungry kids don’t get the meals they need in the summer when schools are closed. Without access to regular meals, kids can suffer long-term setbacks both academically and in overall growth and development.
